Deciding on which CBD brand to go with can make your head spin. There are so many choices and as the industry grows the landscape becomes more complex. The most important thing for us at Cheeba Africa is trust. Trust that is earned over time and built through transparency and honesty which we strive for every day. We don’t always get it right, but we sure as hell try and if we make mistakes we do everything in our power to fix them fast.
While we strive to deliver our best, we also expect the same from our partners and we searched for many months to find a CBD manufacturing partner which finally landed us with an amazing company in Colorado, USA. Our CBD is derived from CBD rich hemp strains sourced from one of the largest grower, manufacturer and distributor of hemp-derived phytocannabinoids in the U.S.
While many companies in South Africa are using CBD isolate, we only use Premium Broad Spectrum CBD which contains all the terpenes to help facilitate the entourage effect and provide you with the best possible results. Every ingredient used is meticulously sourced and lab tested.
While many of the CBD products on the market are produced from cannabis strains used for industrial purposes the CBD oil in our products is made from a CBD-rich strain known as PCR hemp. PCR is short for phytocannabinoid rich — it contains as much as ten times the concentration of CBD as generic industrial hemp. It does not cause a high while ensuring high concentrations of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and other compounds that naturally occur in the cannabis plant. This is the Premium Broad Spectrum phytocannabinoid rich CBD oil you will find in our products.
Our hemp supplier holds themselves to rigorous farming standards — it is not necessarily cheaper or easier, but it’s what’s right. All of our phytocannabinoid-rich hemp is grown under strict guidelines in nutrient rich U.S. soil.
The farmers operate under strict guidelines while using state-of-the-art farming processes. Not only does this enhance the quality of our natural proprietary strains, but it also makes sure our products are safe, regulated and unsurpassed in their potency and consistency.
These farming processes include innovative water-saving practices. They also implement the “sea of green” approach, meaning that they grow hemp plants that mature quickly in higher density. This helps avoid herbicide use. The hemp is planted in a way that encourages natural predators so pesticide use is avoided.
The plants that are used are dried and warehoused after they are harvested. They are then milled into a coarse powder. The milling process adheres to the highest standards in the industry. Once processed, it is shipped to our suppliers processing and manufacturing facility in Colorado.
Our US partner’s manufacturing facility is fully GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant meaning the highest standards for manufacturing are followed at all times.
They use a proprietary hemp extraction and purification process that involves supercritical CO2, a commonly used method of extraction. This makes sure that many of hemp’s beneficial phytocannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids are preserved in the process. The result is the highest quality broad spectrum CBD oil available. Once extracted, undesirable plant solids like waxes and chlorophyll are removed from the oil.
While CBD on its own offers many benefits, a growing body of research has found that a broad spectrum product leads to multiplying benefits. This is called the entourage effect.
Before further refinement, the hemp extract is separated from the supercritical CO2 used in the extraction process. Once this step is completed, the CO2 is recycled and used again in the distillation process.
One of the most important steps in the process is to extract traces of THC. THC is the compound found in cannabis that produces the “high” associated with the plant.
Proprietary technology is used to remove unwanted compounds including wax, chlorophyll, plant pigments and trace amounts of THC. It is then “washed” and “polished.”
You will see on our lab reports, our products contain no detectable THC.
Before we release any batch, it goes through rigorous third-party lab testing. Every batch receives the most comprehensive testing available: microbial (E. coli, yeast, mould), potency (ensuring what’s on the label is in the bottle), heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury and cadmium) and pesticides (60 total).
We strive to use organic ingredients whenever possible. Each of our products includes a QR code linking to both the internal lab reports on the raw oil and the third-party testing on the finished product.
Our softgels require our oil to go through another processing step. The raw hemp oil goes through a proprietary process that transforms it into nano-sized emulsions. This makes it the most bioavailable broad spectrum CBD in the industry.
Competitors’ hemp oil particles are anywhere between 100 and 1000 nanometers in size. Our particles are around 25. This small size leads to much more effective absorption.
This nanoemulsion process makes our softgel formulas more bioavailable than oil-based products. In addition to our nanoemulsion process, we use other proprietary technology to create the water-soluble hemp powder used in our dog treats — since your body has difficulty absorbing oil, this water-soluble format is also more bioavailable than standard hemp oil.
What does this mean for you? You can use less of the product made with these processes to achieve the same level of benefit as the products sold by most of our competitors.
