PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICATIONS FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE JUNE 2022 INTAKE ARE NOW CLOSED.
APPLICATIONS WILL RE-OPEN AGAIN AT THE END OF JULY FOR THE SEPTEMBER INTAKE
The Dagga Couple scholarship has been set up in partnership with Fields of Green for ALL in remembrance and to celebrate the life of Cannabis activist Julian Stobbs who was murdered at his home on the outskirts of Johannesburg in an armed robbery in 2020. The incident caused shockwaves through the local and international Cannabis community and came as a huge blow to the movement lobbying and driving Cannabis legalisation in South Africa.
Julian Stobbs and his partner Myrtle Clarke, aka The Dagga Couple, are the founders of Fields of Green for ALL, South Africa’s first Cannabis legalisation Non-Profit Company. They made significant progress due to their well publicised High Court challenge to the constitutionality of Cannabis prohibition and spent many years creating an extensive social activism campaign seeking an inclusive Cannabis drug policy and the liberalisation of the plant.
As a Cannabis community we are deeply grateful to Julian and Myrtle for the sacrifice and commitment that they have made which allows many of us to work in the industry today. While Julian is missed by the entire Cannabis community, his name lives on and this scholarship is a humble tribute to an incredible human being who followed his heart and left a positive mark on our world.
Julian Stobbs - RIP - Lost but never forgotten.
